WAS WERE (VERBO BE EN PASADO)
Como sabemos el verbo be, es un verbo especial, no es un verbo que siga las reglas que los verbos normales, es un verbo que puede funcionar como auxiliar y como verbo.
Tiene una conjugación especial en presente y pasado. Observa.

Como puedes ver a diferencia del pasado con otros verbos, le pasado del verbo be tiene una conjugación especial para cada pronombre, además no utiliza el auxiliar “did” para formar su negación, forma la negativa sólo, empleando el not o su contracción.

Para las preguntas se hace la inversión entre el verbo y el sujeto.
Was he a lawyer? Yes, he was.
Was yesterday Monday? No, it wasn’t.
Were he and Mary good students? Yes, they were.
Was the man on the corner waiting the bus? No, he wasn’t.
Was he in Europe? Yes, he was.
